The Saraswati Education Society (Trust) has started the “Raigad Hospital Blood Centre” at Raigad Hospital, Diksal, Karjat. Raigad Hospital is attached to Raigad Medical College, Karjat run by Dr Nandkumar Yadavrao Tasgaonkar Institute of Medical Science (NYTIMS). The objective is to meet the blood and blood component needs of patients in the rural area of Karjat and Raigad.
The Raigad Hospital Blood Centre has advanced facilities and equipment for blood component preparation and testing. All tests are done as per the Government guidelines of good manufacturing principles to ensure blood safety. The Blood Centre has well qualified, experienced and committed staff who maintains the highest quality standards. Our staff works round the clock to serve any emergency.
We want to serve all patients of trauma, delivery, infections, cancer and other diseases who require whole blood and blood components like Platelets, Packed Red Blood Cells and Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP). Platelets can be stored for 5 days, Packed Red Blood Cells for 42 days and Fresh Frozen Plasma for one year.
Our motto is to ensure that no one dies for want of blood in the rural area of Karjat and Raigad. To achieve this mammoth task, we conduct voluntary Blood Donation Camps in educational institutes, factories, neighborhoods, villages and social gatherings on all occasions and national festivals. Walk-in blood donation facilities are also available at the Raigad Hospital Blood Centre.
After blood collection, we test the blood for all mandatory tests and keep safe tested blood available for patient’s use. The testing is done as per FDA (Food & Drugs Administration) rules under strict Quality Control protocols for patient safety. We have a minimum stock policy in which we mention the minimum number of bags that we will have.
During Blood Donation Camp, highest priority is given to ensure safety and comfort of donor, so that he has a pleasant experience of blood donation. We have a list of voluntary donors.
